Overview
This Work Group is designed to support teachers and leaders of mathematics in special schools and alternative provision to understand how teaching for mastery can be implemented in their settings.
Who is this for?
The Work Group is for teachers of all phases (Early Years, KS1-5) and would be suitable for non-mainstream school maths leaders and a second teacher. SLT are welcome to join this Work Group. What's involved?
This is a ‘research and innovation’ work group enabling participants to develop an aspect of Teaching for Mastery in their own schools. We will work together on an aspect of number acquisition that you would like to explore in your own school and how best to ensure change is successful. Central workshops will focus on:

Expectations of participants and their schools
Schools must be able to commit to the full academic year’s programme, with senior leadership releasing the same nominated teacher(s) to attend ALL workshops, as well as school-based activity:

The Central Maths Hub, coordinated by the NCETM and part of the National Maths Hubs network works in partnership with local schools, colleges, Universities, CPD providers, maths experts and employers to drive improvement in maths education. This is facilitated through funded professional development opportunities and national collaborative projects known as Work Groups, which meet the DfE standards for teacher development.
