Developing A Level Pedagogy
Develop improved teaching approaches A Level Maths DATES CONFIRMED Session 1: Thursday 21st November 2024 Session 2: Thursday 30th January 2025 Session 3: Wednesday 5th March 2025 Venue: St. Paul's School for Girls, B16 9SL All Sessions are full days: 9:00am - 3:00pm What is involved?
This project explores and deepens participants' pedagogic content knowledge, empowering teachers to enhance their classroom practice and to influence department-wide A level teaching. It is an engine for improving student understanding of A level Maths, and driving their subsequent success. Participants will design and trial classroom activities, sharing and reflecting on their experiences with others in the Work Group. The project involves a direct working partnership between Maths Hubs Network and the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP). Theme: Mathematical Modelling & Problem Solving The main focus will be on developing participants' pedagogy to empower students to solve problems which involve mathematical modelling. Students will also improve their problem solving skills as a result. The content will be flexible to meet the needs of participants but will be linked to the Overarching Themes of the A level qualification (problem solving and mathematical thinking: mathematical modelling and representations; proof, reasoning and mathematical communication) Who can take part?
Participants will be established teachers of A level Maths who are looking to deepen their pedagogical understanding. They must be teaching a current A level Maths group. This Work Group would be particularly useful for those who may have already completed other A level subject knowledge and pedagogy PCD. Benefits
