Post 16: Developing A Level Pedagogy

This is ideal for existing leaders of A level teaching or experienced teachers of A level Mathematics who wish to lead the development of pedagogy with other colleagues in their own or other schools.

If you’ve participated in this Work Group in previous years, you are welcome to join again as each year has a different focus and will include new content.

What is involved?

his Work Group supports experienced A level teachers to not only further develop their expertise but provide a model to support departmental change. 

There will be be opportunities to develop Problem Solving in lessons.  Plus the participants’ own needs will help to shape the content as the Work Group proceeds.

The Work Group involves a direct working partnership between the Maths Hubs Network and the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) and some of the sessions will involve joining up with AMSP sessions.

What will you learn?

  • You will understand the purpose of the overarching themes, including use of technology, and their impact on teaching and learning in A level Maths
  • You and your department will have better understanding of how ideas behind teaching for mastery can be used in the classroom
  • You and your department will have a deeper understanding of content pedagogic knowledge for A Level Maths
  • Your students will have a deeper conceptual understanding of the A level Maths content
