Who can take part?
his one-year programme is for Reception teachers – it would be particularly valuable for a Reception teacher and their teaching assistant colleague to attend the programme together if capacity allows.
What is involved?
Designed specifically to support Reception practitioners to develop their subject knowledge about the effective provision for mathematics learning, this programme will focus on developmental progression around the concepts of number and spatial reasoning. The programme will also support with developing understanding around, what research tells us, is effective with younger children and give opportunities to consider pedagogical approaches and how they impact on learning and teaching of this area of mathematics.
Comprising 4 sessions, each with a specific focus plus lots of activities to trial in the classroom between each session and share findings with the Work Group.
What will you learn?
- You will explore and increase your use of pedagogic approaches that will support pupils in engaging with and developing their maths
- You will understand how maths opportunities can be developed across all areas and in everyday routines
- Your pupils will demonstrate a positive attitude towards maths, being willing to have a go, persevere and share their mathematical ideas
