Who is this Work Group aimed at?
The Central Maths Hub is looking to identify schools and colleges to be involved in this Work Group. This is a Work Group that is suitable for secondary colleagues who are new to teaching the Core Maths course in 2019/20. Participants will be wanting to develop their classroom practice and gain a better understanding of the qualification. What is involved? 1. Attending 4 face-to-face sessions in which you build your understanding of the qualification and engage in some joint planning to enhance your classroom practice. 2. Working on impact tasks between sessions by using the resources that have been used and developed in the face-to-face sessions. 3. Supporting the evaluation of the work group by collecting and collating evidence from the outcomes of the work group. What will I need to do? You will be required to bring a devise with you, preferably a laptop, to each of the sessions. Impact tasks will be set for you to complete after each session which will involve using resources within the Core Maths classroom and preparing to feed them back at the following session. What will each session focus on? Session 1- Introduction to resources used for the Core Maths course and joint planning of some materials to be used in the classroom. Session 2- Review of the developed materials used in the classroom and the use of technology in the Core Maths classroom. Session 3- Working with examination pre-release materials, including looking at previous year’s materials and their associated exam questions, and analysing current materials and preparing materials to support students in the classroom. Session 4- Review of the examination materials, analysing how we could tackle difficult questions in the classroom, giving particular attention to the pre-release material questions and evaluating the planned materials from March. |
