A CPD community designed specifically for secondary head of maths

The Secondary Maths Subject Network community events this year will all be based around the theme of Problem Solving and gives maths leads the chance to come together and to explore and exchange new ideas.

​During this online session, you will have the opportunity to discuss and learn more about the following topics:
​

• Exploring what does Problem Solving in maths look like?
• Is it possible to teach problem solving in maths?
• What classroom discussion and Oracy based activities can support Problem Solving
• ​Using Research informed evidence to develop pedagogical approaches Exploring specific Problem Solving strategies/activities

​Neil Ogden - Maths subject advisor for OCR will be sharing some insights into general trends  of AO2 & AO3 questions. He will exemplify the specific types of questions that students where students struggle to engage with the content.

Combined with opportunities to share strategies in groups for you to share strategies of how to minimise the impact on your students.

Whilst Neil works with OCR - the trends for specific types of questions are very similar across all of the main exam boards.

His presentation will highlight how JCQ subdivide AO2 & AO3 into different sub-strands and data over time of how students have performed against these individual sub-strands.

This will help you to prepare your cohort to maximise their opportunities in the summer and provide a great discussion point at a maths departmental meeting.
