It is of no doubt that teaching is a rewarding career but at times it can be challenging. This has been especially true recently due to the unavoidable disruptions that schools have faced over the past year. Early career teachers may have found it difficult to keep up, as their training and CPD has undoubtedly been affected by the recent pandemic.
This Work Group aims to support early career teachers with their mathematical subject knowledge and mastery pedagogy and will provide an opportunity to work collaboratively over the year. It will provide much CPD that was missed during lockdown for RQTs and reassure and support NQTs who will not have been able to do pre-visits to school or finish their initial teacher training. Launch Session Online Monday 14th December 2020 (3.30 - 4.30pm) Overview of the Work Group. Gather feedback from participants. Familiarisation to the 5 Big Ideas. Battling Maths Mastery myths. Session 1 Online Monday 1st February 2021 (1.30 - 4pm) Representations and CPA approaches. Subject Knowledge - Fact Fluency Session 2 Place/Venue TBC Monday 1st March 2021 (1.30 - 4pm) Using Resources from the NCETM and DfE Materials. Subject Knowledge - Number and Place Value Session 3 Place/Venue TBC Monday 29th March 2021 (1.30 - 4pm) Planning Subject Knowledge - Addition and Subtraction Session 4 Place/Venue TBC Monday 26th April 2021 (9.30am - 12pm) The Learning Journey which includes observing a lesson.
