Improving continuity in Maths across the transition between primary and secondary school, using a mastery approach
Teachers from different phases will work together in this Work Group aims to improve and enhance a seamless transition in their maths from Key Stages 2 to 3, with the overall aim of improving continuity of learning by pupils between Years 5 and 8. The Work Group will address key issues by looking at different pedagogical approaches as the focus for their work and develop a consistent approach to it through discussion, action research and evaluation.
Who is this for?
The Work Group is aimed at linked pairs (or small groups) from neighbouring secondary and primary schools, with between one and four teachers participating from each school. Secondary schools working with their feeder primary schools are particularly suited. Teachers may need to be released before the end of the normal school day to enable a prompt start in the four twilight sessions.
