Using an Advanced Scientific Calculator for the
Teaching of Post-16 Mathematics
For Secondary and Level 3 colleagues
*This event is now WAITING LIST ONLY*
The Casio Classwiz (fx-991EX)* is a new brand on advanced scientific calculator with features that previously were only found on a graphical calculator. Numerical calculus, polynomial solving, statistical analysis and probability tables are just some of these features that can be used within the post-16 mathematics classroom and in an examination environment.
This session will look to train delegates how to use the advanced scientific calculator and to demonstrate how to use the calculator effectively for the teaching of the new A Level and Core Maths qualifications. They will be given a walk through of the different processes to answer different questions using the available emulator and an opportunity to engage with exam questions to identify how the calculator can be utilised.
The session will be led by Tom Carpenter, a Core Maths Lead who has been using the Casio Classwiz regularly within his teaching over the last year. A calculator will be available to use during the session.
Please register for the waiting list via the form below.
*A range of advanced scientific calculators are available for this purpose and the presenter will be discussing this during the session.
